Over 50 years ago, Caryl Baldwin, a dry goods merchant
from the High Plains of West Texas bought 800 acres of
rolling hill country in beautiful Lampasas County, fulfilling
his lifelong dream to be a Texas cattle rancher.
Over the following decades, his family's love of this
land flourished along with the Polled Herefords they
raised and Coastal Bermuda hay they cultivated. In the
late 1970's, Mr. Baldwin's eldest daughter, Jimmie Jean,
and her husband Pat Ryan took on the day-to-day operation
of the ranch. They expanded the herd, incorporated,
and the Ryan Cattle Operation, or RCO Ranch was
born.
